Fundraiser for Binational Assembly

We are kindly solicit donations from our friends, allies, supporters and our community to cover the expenses of our Binational General Assembly that will take place in Oaxaca, Mexico this coming October, 2014.  Every three years, FIOB organizes a binational congress with its membership at the binational level to make significant changes in its structure, work, etc.  This is a unique opportunity where membership from Oaxaca, Baja California and California (U.S.) gather together to discuss and make decision in regards to the communities they all represent build together strategies in how to better support at the binational, national, state and local level the indigenous communities.

Date: October 9, 10 and 11, 2014
Place: Oaxaca, México
Participants: Delegates from California (U.S.), Baja California and Oaxaca.

Be a strong, self-sufficient and constructive binational indigenous organization

Contribute in the development and self-determination of the migrant and non-migrants indigenous communities, as well as struggle for the defense of the human rights with justice and gender equity at the binational level.

FIOB is constituted as a group of organizations, communities and individuals (men and women) from various backgrounds, who have decided to join efforts, ideas and projects over the economic, political, social and cultural factors that our indigenous brothers/ sisters migrants and non-migrants face in Mexico and the United States , to fight for respect for their rights and identity as indigenous peoples.

FIOB members are committed to fight with loyalty to the principles of freedom, justice, democracy and equality for our people, understanding this as the right of our communities to its political and economic autonomy, that is, their right to freely decide their destination, the improvement of their material life, respect for human rights, territory, natural resources and culture.
